The Ohleys April 30, 2009

Over Easter weekend, I had the pleasure of spending time with the Ohleys. I know the Ohleys through my sister-in-law, but have never had the chance to actually spend time with them. What a great first impression they made! As soon as I walked in the door, Faith and Lydia were standing there waiting for me! Although they were probably just anxious to see who this Emily girl was, it made me feel good.

Unfortunately, it rained two or three consecutive days leading up to the session. Plus, it was in Illinois and it’s not quite as warm there as it is here in Memphis! We moved the majority of the session inside, and I was pleasantly surprised. Even though my favorites were captured outside, we were still able to get some great images inside. Faith jumped in first. She’s so photogenic! I promise she struck a different pose after every click. I was so impressed! Lydia was excited to follow in her sister’s footsteps and jumped in next. She was excited to go outside too, but quickly realized it was a little chilly. Apparently, she’s a big fan of the tulips. I’m really glad mom suggested a few pictures with the flowers because they turned out to be amazing! Noah was super cooperative. Being a typical guy, he wasn’t exactly thrilled to take pictures. However, he didn’t complain one bit! Take a good look at those photos of him on the stairs… I told him he looked like a little Gap model! And then there was Eden. How precious is she? We woke her up from her nap to get a few pictures, and she still gave me a few great faces! I love them.

Brandy, thank you so much for asking me to take these pictures. Your family is so sweet and friendly and I really enjoyed my time with them.

Maci and Mia April 29, 2009

It’s been awhile since my last post – my apologies. I have three blogs to post, so here is the first of the three.

Maci and Mia are my two little nieces. Maci is 3 1/2 and Mia is about 8 months. Maci is quite the character! Since day one she has never failed to entertain us. She is extremely outgoing, will talk to anyone (sometimes a bad thing!) and is full of life and energy. Last summer she spent a week with us and I couldn’t believe how much she compared to the energizer bunny. She literally kept going and going and going. Although we love her very much, it confirmed our desire to wait a little longer for kids. Maci is tough to keep up with!

She also loves to talk and entertain. For Christmas, we bought her a Hannah Montana guitar. She was beside herself singing and performing for the family the entire night in her sparkly teal rocker shirt. Yesterday, while on the phone with Wade, she informed him that she stuck popcorn up her nose at pre-school. The un-popped kernel got stuck and “Lulu” got it out with tweezers. How about that?

At the young age of 8 months, we can already see a different personality developing in little Mia. Unlike Maci, she tends to cling to the people she knows well and is familiar with. She’s also extremely sensitive. During our visit, we were all encouraging her to crawl. She was SO close on multiple occasions. One time in particular, her daddy put something out in front of her to crawl toward and when she reached out for it he pushed it farther away and Mia just burst into tears. So cute, but oh so sad… Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see her crawl before we left, but apparently we’ll get to see it when we go back!

Without further ado, I give you Maci and Mia!

I fully intend to finish and publish two more posts by this weekend. Check back soon! And thanks to all of my faithful viewers! I really appreciate the comments. Have a great Thursday!

I’m Moving… April 21, 2009

Over the past 8-10 weeks, Wade and I have been talking with a church from Missouri about their student pastor opening.  Many of you know this, and have been in prayer for us, and we appreciate it very much.  This past weekend we traveled to Macon, MO in view of a call for the Student Pastor position at First Baptist Church in Macon.  After a long weekend, we received a positive vote Sunday morning and accepted the position.  We will be moving to Macon June 4, 2009.

Wade and I are very excited about the opportunity God has provided us in Macon. I am excited to be closer to family and in a smaller community. Unfortunately, we will be leaving some incredible friends behind. We’ve met great people through Bellevue, Mid-America, and Bon Lin Middle. Our Bible Fellowship Class has become our little church family, prayer warriors, encouragers, and support group. We’re going to miss everyone!

Right now, I am keeping an open mind about teaching positions and looking for opportunities; however, I will continue to pursue photography to its fullest while in Macon. I hope to build an official website and begin booking sessions right away.

Until then, I’m available in Memphis through May 30, 2009. May’s schedule is filling up quickly between photography sessions, school events, and now packing; therefore, if you’re interested in a session, please contact me soon!

Have a wonderful week everyone!

By the way…

Brandon and Lori Williams April 14, 2009

You know its true love when a couple can’t help but have fun with each other. I love when the friendship in a relationship is absolutely evident. My husband and I are great friends and were friends for about a year and a half before we started dating. Now that we’re married, that friendship has carried over into our marriage and we really enjoy spending time with each other. We’re always cracking jokes and throwing out sarcastic remarks.

Brandon and Lori are great friends of ours, and they too have a friendship – not just a marriage. They were friends for about five months before they started dating, but dated for almost two and a half years. We have a lot of fun with them as a group – going out to eat is definitely our “thing” to do. But during our shoot, I was able to sit back and watch them as a couple. They were so fun and playful – goofing off between poses and pictures. I was able to capture a few fun shots. Hopefully they won’t mind if a share a couple of those!

Shout out to Lori: Girl, I love you! You’re a woman of God, a prayer warrior, an accountability partner… I’ve been blessed to know you since we’ve been in Memphis. I’m so thankful I asked you about running a little over a year ago! Our runs will forever hold a special place in my heart. Hopefully, we can get in a few more before the summer.
