This morning I came across the i ♥ faces contest and decided to enter a photo in the “Just For Fun” category. Why am I not entering the contest? Unfortunately, this week’s challenge is for a face captured during a wedding celebration. I don’t have any of those… YET! Someday I will though.

This “Just For Fun” category is simply just for fun. The only requirements are that I have only one photo in the blog post and that my photo has at least one face in it. So here is my “Just For Fun” face. Seriously, who can look at this without smiling?!

Note: I don’t know why my font randomly decides not to enlarge. It drives me crazy.

While on vacation with our best friends, Christian and Stephanie, I was able to convince Stephanie to model for me in her bridal gown! Because I’m such a lucky gal, it didn’t take much convincing. Stephanie was happy to model for me especially since she never had bridals taken before her wedding (yep, another mock bridal!). Stephanie is a fellow pastor’s wife and again, one of my very best friends. She’s also a great mom! I’ve never seen such a well-behaved 1 1/2-year-old. So kuttos to Christian and Stephanie!

Wade and I love hanging out with them and playing games. Board games are kind of our thing to do together, which is sometimes a problem for me. I hate to lose. At anything. Wade loves to tell the story of the first time we played Monopoly together very early on in our dating. Once he beat me, I didn’t speak to him for an hour… oops! Over vacation, the Abernathas introduced us to a new game, Rummikub. This game is time consuming (not like Monopoly though), but a lot of fun and you should definitely give it a try. I was even able to control my temper-haha!

Our vacation was spent at the private Terre Du Lac lake in Bonne Terre, MO, which was an excellent location for pictures! Enjoy!

Prayers Needed! June 25, 2009

For the past couple of months, I’ve been following Jasmine Star, a ridiculously amazing wedding photographer based in Orange County, California. She’s only been a photographer for three years and she’s already internationally known and conducting workshops around the States. Through her blog, I came across Amy Wenzel. Amy is a portrait and commercial photographer based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Both of these ladies are crazy good photographers and I hope to be only half as successful as they are in my photography career. If only our successes were the purpose of this blog post…

On June 8th, Amy’s husband David (only 27-years-old) was rushed to the hospital after suffering a seizure. To their surprise, the doctors found a tumor on David’s brain. I love my husband, Wade, more than words can describe… I love spending quality time with him, laughing with him, cooking with him, sitting at the dinner table together and enjoying a relaxing evening. I have a love-hate relationship with his budget because I know he is working hard to put us in good financial situations. I hate it when he beats me at Wii or any other form of competition for that matter. But I wouldn’t want to be beat by anyone else. So, I can’t even imagine what Amy must be going through.

What I do know is that if the same thing had happened to Wade, I would want everyone I know praying for my husband. I don’t personally know David or Amy, but over the past couple of years I have seen the power of God work through faithful prayer. He listens and He answers. Though His answers may not always be our preferred answers, we know He is working for the good of those who love Him. And I know that God is working for the good of David and Amy.

So I’m writing this post to ask for prayer. Even if it is one simple prayer – ask for complete healing of David Wenzel. If God is willing, He will bring David through this hardship a better, stronger man. Thank you in advance and please visit Amy’s Blog to find out more about this difficult trial they’re facing together. I promise, you will be blessed by Amy’s love for the Lord. She will encourage and inspire you when really, we should be encouraging, inspiring, and supporting her through this trial in both of their lives.

Take Some Time To Listen June 24, 2009

If you’re willing, take some time out of your day to sit back, relax, and listen to my husband, Wade. He is the full-time student pastor at Macon First Baptist. On his first Sunday at MFBC, he had the opportunity to preach in the evening service. In this sermon he focused on the Awesomeness of Christ. Click on (6-14-2009) PM Sermon. If sermons aren’t your thing, find a good, uplifting radio station! Here are a couple of radio stations I recommend: KLOVE or Spirit FM.

And because this is a photography blog, a preview of an upcoming bridal session:

Introducing Palmyra High School’s very own: Taylor Baxter!

Taylor Baxter is the power house softball player in northeast Missouri. She has won the Missouri State Softball Championship (in her division) all three years of high school, and hopes to add the fourth gold medal to the collection this fall. She’s already verbally committed to play at Illinois State University in 2010. How cool is that?! I have the pleasure of knowing Taylor through my brother, Luke. I haven’t had the opportunity to spend much time with her, so I was glad to get to hang out with her for a couple of hours during our session. She’s fun and easy to talk to. We had several good laughs! During our session, we spent a lot of time in her backyard and also out at her aunt’s lake. I also got to spend some time with her parents who are super friendly.

Taylor is one of my Senior Ambassadors. Senior Ambassadors serve as a representative for Emily Dobson Photography throughout their senior year of high school. As an ambassador for a particular high school, you are expected to exclusively represent Emily Dobson Photography, show senior portraits and pass out ambassador cards to all friends, family, and acquiantainces, and take advantage of all of the benefits and rewards of being a senior ambassador. What are these benefits and rewards? I’m glad you asked!

The Murins June 20, 2009

Ah, home sweet home! It’s good to be back in town for awhile. Wade and I have been all over the place the past couple of weeks and were sick of living out of suitcases and boxes. We are all settled in here at Macon, MO and are looking forward to serving at the church! We just returned from Super Summer with about 13 of the youth from our church. One student surrendered to the ministry and another one prayer to receive Christ! God is good!

Now that I’m back in town, I’m ready to get this blog alive again! Can you guess how I knew Kristie Murin?! Yep, worked with her at Bon Lin Middle School. She is the school counselor and Mr. Wells, Mr. Tucker, and I helped her with breakfast duty every morning. She is a great asset to Bon Lin Middle. Although I didn’t see her daily, I could tell the students had a great relationship with her. She made them feel special, and the kids were comfortable with her. Kristie also worked hard on special events such as career day where she brought in firefighters, nurses, teachers, etc. to speak with the students about choosing their career path.

This session took place before I left Memphis, but it has stuck with me over the weeks I’ve been “off the clock.” She has four kids and two of them are already great athletes. She has a power house soccer player as well as a power house softball player. Everyone was very kind and very respectful.  They all thanked me for taking their pictures and were great sports (even if they weren’t too keen on the idea of a photo session to begin with). Kristie even told me after the session that her kids told her it was the most fun session they’ve ever had! What a compliment! THANK YOU for your kind words. I will miss working with you, Kristie.
