That’s right folks! The Emily Dobson Photography professional website is now live! I’ve been waiting for the this day for several months, and am so excited to finally showcase my work in a professional, online gallery. Please, tell your friends and spread the word through e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter!

Once you click on the link above, you will be directed to my splash page. From the splash page, you may choose whether you want to be directed to my website or my blog. For those of you who follow me here on the blog, I hope you will continue to show me some love and stop by frequently for updates, special offers, and to see all of my most current work.

On my website, you will find investment information for both custom portrait and custom wedding photography. To celebrate the newly launched website, I’d like to throw out a couple of offers:

The first five people to book a portrait session will receive $20 OFF their sitting fee!

The first three brides to book a wedding will receive $200 OFF the package of their choice!

Contact me TODAY for information! (info@emilydobson.com)

While browing through the website, be sure to check out my FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions page. You will notice that I’m now offering free pre-session and pre-wedding consultations for prospective clients. Some people are completely comfortable communicating and booking via internet; however, I also know that some people would prefer to meet and speak with me in person prior to making a commitment. A consultation is simply a time for us to get to know one another. Tell me about you, your family, your wedding, your hobbies… anything that makes you or your family unique. You may also ask questions regarding the session and or products offered. I will have sample products available for you to view as well. If a face to face meeting isn’t going to be possible due to scheduling conflicts or travel distance, we may set up a phone consultation. If this is something you’re interested in, simply mention “consultation” during our initial contact.

As I close this point, I would like to send out a couple of Thank You’s:

  • First, HUGE thank you and bravo to Patty Dill for designing my logo! It looks fantastic – especially against the black back drop!
  • THANKS to Ryan Wingo for granting me permission to play his song “Wonders” on my website…such an awesome song!
  • To all my beautiful 2009 clients: I would NOT, I repeat NOT be launching this website and starting a new year of business without you. I’m thrilled to showcase your beautiful faces all over my website. THANK YOU for being simply wonderful.
  • And to my incredible husband, Wade: I LOVE YOU! Thank you for your support, patience, encouragement, website proofing, and unending love. You are my best friend.

NOW, spread the word, tell your friends, and find me on Facebook to become a fan of Emily Dobson Photography: another method of communication for updates, special offers, and current work.

THANK YOU FRIENDS and CLIENTS and ALL of my FAITHFUL FOLLOWERS!!

Give the Gift of Hope! September 12, 2009

Here we are just starting school and I’m already thinking about the holidays! I do love Christmas!

Did you know:

  • There are 143 million orphans in the world?
  • In the United States, there are more than half a million children in foster care, with more than 100,000 of them waiting to be adopted?
  • One couple in five will experience infertility, pregnancy loss, or infant death?
  • In the U.S. alone, there are more than 1 million induced abortions performed each year?
  • (Words of www.bethany.org)

This holiday season, I want to help support the orphans across the world. Too many innocent children are living in unhealthy conditions every day – conditions I could never even dream of! Until Wade and I have the opportunity to adopt, I want do what I can now to help. And the good news is, you can help too!

How? I’m so glad you asked!

This is a well established agency that began in 1944 and works in over 75 different locations nationwide and 12 different countries. I am now scheduling custom, holiday portrait sessions for October and November. Each packages comes with two custom-designed holiday card layouts that will be printed professionally. Wording and colors are completely interchangeable.  I have approximately 10 slots available, so if you or anyone you know would like to fill one of the available slots, please e-mail me quickly at emilydobsonphotography@yahoo.com!

Wanted: Couples! – Missouri Engagement Photography September 4, 2009

As I prepare to launch an official photography website, I must make sure my portfolios are full of every “category” I want to showcase! Right now, my engagement portfolio is lacking…

…that is where YOU come in!

I am in need of some fun, energetic couples in their 20’s. I’ll take married couples, engaged couples, dating couples, or friends who don’t mind modeling as a couple! If you personally don’t fall into one of these categories, then nominate someone who does!

I’ll be selecting five couples to help showcase Emily Dobson Photography. Each couple will receive a free 45 minute session with 1-2 outfits. After the session, I will provide you with a complimentary CD containing 20-25 images as well as a private online gallery for you and everyone you know to view the images.

So, who’s with me?!

To apply to be one of the five couples selected, simply e-mail me at

emilydobsonphotography@yahoo.com

with the following included:

Name (of each individual)

Address (City, State, and Zip will be sufficient)

1-2 Pictures (not necessarily of you together)

And something creative to make me smile! (Don’t overthink this-Shelby Heaton will tell you how much I love those popsicle jokes!) 🙂

And for a taste of what the chosen couples will receive…

Happy 4th! July 4, 2009

Happy 4th of July everyone! I hope you have a great holiday and are spending some time with your loved ones or thinking of them if you can’t actually be with them. Say a special prayer for those who are serving our country overseas – I think they deserve it.

I’m expanding my creativity and working on a bridal album from one of my very first sessions: Heather Mullins. As I proceed down this long road to professional photography, I want to offer my clients albums, namely flush mount albums. Here are two of the pages I’ve created from Heather’s session. PLEASE leave a comment and let me know what you think! Thanks!

While on vacation with our best friends, Christian and Stephanie, I was able to convince Stephanie to model for me in her bridal gown! Because I’m such a lucky gal, it didn’t take much convincing. Stephanie was happy to model for me especially since she never had bridals taken before her wedding (yep, another mock bridal!). Stephanie is a fellow pastor’s wife and again, one of my very best friends. She’s also a great mom! I’ve never seen such a well-behaved 1 1/2-year-old. So kuttos to Christian and Stephanie!

Wade and I love hanging out with them and playing games. Board games are kind of our thing to do together, which is sometimes a problem for me. I hate to lose. At anything. Wade loves to tell the story of the first time we played Monopoly together very early on in our dating. Once he beat me, I didn’t speak to him for an hour… oops! Over vacation, the Abernathas introduced us to a new game, Rummikub. This game is time consuming (not like Monopoly though), but a lot of fun and you should definitely give it a try. I was even able to control my temper-haha!

Our vacation was spent at the private Terre Du Lac lake in Bonne Terre, MO, which was an excellent location for pictures! Enjoy!

Take Some Time To Listen June 24, 2009

If you’re willing, take some time out of your day to sit back, relax, and listen to my husband, Wade. He is the full-time student pastor at Macon First Baptist. On his first Sunday at MFBC, he had the opportunity to preach in the evening service. In this sermon he focused on the Awesomeness of Christ. Click on (6-14-2009) PM Sermon. If sermons aren’t your thing, find a good, uplifting radio station! Here are a couple of radio stations I recommend: KLOVE or Spirit FM.

And because this is a photography blog, a preview of an upcoming bridal session:

Bridal sessions are fantastic! Although I’ve only had the opportunity to shoot three thus far (soon to be four), I adore them. As soon as I see a bride (or a mock bride) in their gown, I become giddy and excited – ready to relive my own wedding day! Something about the glow a woman has in her wedding gown gives me the chills and the desire to work with brides on a regular basis. Weddings are so romantic and such a great celebration of the sacred marriage that beginning between a man and a wife.

I’ve needed to increase my bridal portfolio for awhile, and Julianne, a Sunday School class friend, was eager to step in and help. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t as cooperative. It had been cloudy all day, but the rain held off. The radar showed no sign of an upcoming downpour… so, we decided to go ahead with our session. About 15 minutes into the session, we had to make a mad dash for the car! Because the weather took a turn for the worse, our session was cut short and my images were not up to par. Without the chance to reschedule before our move, here are the only good images I managed to get.

Thanks for being such a good sport Julianne! I will miss you!

IMPORTANT SIDENOTE: If this had been a real bridal session, we would have without question rescheduled! Just wanted to clear that up… 😉
