Juan – 6 months {Missouri Professional Photographer} April 26, 2010

These past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of events! We had a four night Crusade at our church two weeks ago with Brady Weldon. It was a great four days where we saw many people come to know Christ for the first time as well as rededications and many healings of brokenness. Wade has been in and out of town speaking at two different Disciple Nows this month. I had a GREAT baby shower a week and a half ago. And I’ve also been busy with senior and family sessions, which has been wonderful! I have two sessions left before the baby arrives, and I am praying the bad weather will stay away because I’m sick of rescheduling! Rain just doesn’t do well in on-location photography. Yet, I wouldn’t change the way I shoot because I love the look I get in my outdoor, natural light settings!

Over Easter, I was able to meet six-month-old Juan for the first time. Alicia and I have been friends for a few years now after we spent a WHOLE-LOTTA time together in 2006 on a mission trip to Miami, FL. We were both single, but dating at the time. Now we’re both married, she has almost a 7-month-old baby, and I have a bun in the oven! Crazy how quickly time passes because it definitely doesn’t seem like that mission trip was 4 years ago. Maaaaaaybe 2, but definitely not 4!

I remember as Alicia and I spoke prior to the session, she mentioned what happy baby Juan was. “Juan is always so happy and loves to jump [and] look at himself in the mirror…” He was so smiley during our entire session. He enjoyed playing with mommy and daddy and enjoyed having his pictures taken – how fun for me as a photgorapher! When we held the ordering appointment where Alicia had the opportunity to see every image in print, Juan admired himself in every image. He just looked around in “awe” of the beautiful baby in the pictures! Did he recognize himself? I say, sure! He was probably thinking, “Man, I am one handsome stud!”

Thanks, Alicia for allowing my images to become a part of your family’s memories. I hope I captured exactly what you wanted: Juan…full of life and happiness at this stage in his life.

Sneak Peek {Macon, MO Professional Photographer} April 6, 2010

According to my doctor, I am “33 weeks and some change.” We’re less than seven weeks away now, and I am gaining weight faster than cars drive – seriously! Everyone says its normal, but it sure is scary packing on the poundage. Hopefully, everyone is right and it will come off. Otherwise, Wade may be in charge of childcare for awhile when I start workin’ out like a mad woman! Hm, wonder how long it’ll take to find the energy to workout after the baby is born…

Thursday we traveled to Alton, IL to visit Wade’s family for Easter. I figured I’d make the most of the weekend and take a few pictures while I was there. Friday I had the opportunity to conduct both a 6-month session and an Engagement session (one of my favs!). I’m super excited about the images I’ve culled through thus far, and I cannot wait to finish enhancing each image! Here is a sneak peek from my weekend in Alton, IL:

Yesterday afternoon and evening, I spent 2 1/2 hours with my South Shelby High School senior rep: Sam Bode! I LOVE senior sessions. She brought one of her good friends along, and we just hung out and had a good time. Isn’t she stunning?!

Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth – {Macon, MO Baby Photographer} March 31, 2010

Babies cry? Well yes, apparently they do. And apparently there is more than just crying. My friends, according to Matthew 15:30 “there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Last night, Wade and I were blessed by our church family as they threw us a baby shower. The wonderful hostesses opened with a few baby-related greetings that brought a huge (and yes, nerdy) smile to my face. One of the greetings they offered was Scripture verses following the acrostic of our names. I was told that “W” was a difficult letter for finding Scripture, but although COMPLETELY out of context (as this verse actually pertains to suffering in Hell), Matthew 13:50 was quite appropriate for the shower. We thought it was funny!

We are only 7 1/2 weeks from our due date, and Wade recently admitted that he keeps thinking we have an appointment on May 22nd to go GET the baby. Ha! If only it were that simple. Can I get an ‘Amen’ ladies? (as if I already know what its like…) Regardless of what the process will be, our excitment is growing and we are very much looking forward to meeting our little guy or girl in May (because we are so not prepared for him/her to unexpectedly pay us a visit in April).

With our anticipation growing each and every day, you can only imagine how gitty I was over little Natalie. I had the opportunity to spend some time with Natalie, and her amazing mom, Cindy (one of the sweetest ladies; she’s so full of kindness!), almost two weeks ago. On day 14 of Natalie’s life, I got to hold and talk to her while capturing some PRECIOUS images of her new life outside of mommy’s tummy. I’m told to cherish every moment (especially the early ones) with my new baby because time passes so quickly! For this reason, I am SO GLAD Cindy and I were able to get together for a newborn shoot. Babies are only that little for so long before they start growing up. Then, there is no turning back.

Baby Addison – {Macon, MO Professional Photographer} March 25, 2010

I am so ready to get back in the swing of regular photography sessions. This Missouri weather has been awful! I was only in Memphis for a year and a half, but how quickly I became accustomed to no snow and warmer temperatures! Hopefully, this past weekend’s Surprise-It’s Spring-Snow was the last hoo-rah. I am ready for sunshine, warm temperatures, and on-location photo sessions! I have two sessions coming up next week with several more to follow. It’s senior time, and I’m stoked! I love senior sessions!

Despite this nasty weather, I was able to conduct a great natural light shoot of Baby Addison a few weeks ago. I went to their house one afternoon to find four month old Addison so quiet and peacful…until we layed her on the bed! She was vocal, but oh so cute. After a little more time with mommy, Addison was ready to go, and we ended up with some fantastic images! I am so blessed to work with people and capture life’s most precious moments before they slip away and are forgotten.

In only six months, Wade and I will have a four month old at home – YIKES!

We ♥ Hands on Fun – I ♥ Faces {Macon, MO Professional Photographer} February 23, 2010

This week I Faces is focusing on hands. More specifically, “hands-on fun!” The picture I chose for this week’s contest makes me smile for two reasons:

1) Micara is ridiculously cute!

2) Only 12 more weeks until my first baby is due. Only 12 more weeks until there is a new life in our home. A child who will soon discover life on earth. Micara seems to be discovering her hands in this picture, and it sparks an excitement within me for the day my baby will discover his/her little hands and fingers.

Enjoy!

Alone Time – {Macon, MO Photographer} February 19, 2010

Tonight, Wade is away at a conference, and I am home alone. Originally, I planned to host a high school girls’ sleepover and have a fun girls’ night watching movies, eating snacks, and popping popcorn. Unfortunately, I overlooked the minor detail of Courtwarming – hello! I must admit, I would’ve chosen the dance back in my high school days too.

I just finished watching Edward… I mean Twilight! I ate a big bowl of shells mac and cheese, and fully intend on baking a couple of chocolate chip cookies and accompanything them with a delicious bowl of vanilla ice cream. I swear… it IS the baby causing the weight gain!!!!! I mean, he/she is already showing its excitement about the cookies. The baby hasn’t stopped moving in two hours!

While relaxing at home this evening, I came across this PRECIOUS picture of Micara at her one year birthday party. If only we could all demonstrate this kind of happiness…

We ♥ Kisses – I ♥ Faces {Macon, MO Professional Photographer} February 8, 2010

It has been MONTHS since I last entered an I Faces contest. So needless to say, I’m a bit excited to get back to announce my newest entry! This week’s competition is “We Heart Kisses.” When I read the description for this week’s photo challenge, I immediately thought of one photo – a photo I took last spring when I was just getting started. The session with Parker and Reese was so much fun as we walked around Shelby Farms (in Memphis), talked about kid stuff, and just spent time playing and hanging out…yes, hanging out with the kids!

For this picture, I set Parker and Reese on the bridge below and told them to watch the ducks (I think they were ducks!) swim for awhile. I placed myself approximately 15 feet away and let them play. Of course, mommy and I thought it would be super cute if Reese gave that big brother a little smooch… and of course it turned out to be one of my 2009 favorites! Isn’t it precious?!
