It’s time word got out about Emily Dobson Photography. Out where, you ask? Great question! Out to places and people I might never reach without you. So…

It’s CONTEST Time!

Over the course of the next 14 days, I’m asking Friends to Invite Friends to join my Facebook fan page. I have a list of everyone who is currently a fan and will be rewarding one lucky current fan with a free session or free money (take your pick!). Here’s how it works:

Current Emily Dobson Photography Facebook “Fans”:

Invite everyone you know to become a fan of Emily Dobson Photography. I’ll be keeping track of all the new memebers who join, and at the end of the 14 days, one of the new members will be randomly selected. The person who invited them will receive the free one hour session of his/her choice or $15!  SO, the more people you invite, the better your odds are to win!

My only stipulation is that you must be at least 17-years-old to win.

Feel free to pass along my newly launched site: www.emilydobsonphotography.com.

Winner will be annouced on Wednesday, February 3, 2010!

New Website is Live! January 13, 2010

Filed under: Bridal,Children,Engagement,Family,Investment,Personal,Portraits,Senior,Wedding — edobson86 @ 10:35 PM

That’s right folks! The Emily Dobson Photography professional website is now live! I’ve been waiting for the this day for several months, and am so excited to finally showcase my work in a professional, online gallery. Please, tell your friends and spread the word through e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter!

Once you click on the link above, you will be directed to my splash page. From the splash page, you may choose whether you want to be directed to my website or my blog. For those of you who follow me here on the blog, I hope you will continue to show me some love and stop by frequently for updates, special offers, and to see all of my most current work.

On my website, you will find investment information for both custom portrait and custom wedding photography. To celebrate the newly launched website, I’d like to throw out a couple of offers:

The first five people to book a portrait session will receive $20 OFF their sitting fee!

The first three brides to book a wedding will receive $200 OFF the package of their choice!

Contact me TODAY for information! (info@emilydobson.com)

While browing through the website, be sure to check out my FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions page. You will notice that I’m now offering free pre-session and pre-wedding consultations for prospective clients. Some people are completely comfortable communicating and booking via internet; however, I also know that some people would prefer to meet and speak with me in person prior to making a commitment. A consultation is simply a time for us to get to know one another. Tell me about you, your family, your wedding, your hobbies… anything that makes you or your family unique. You may also ask questions regarding the session and or products offered. I will have sample products available for you to view as well. If a face to face meeting isn’t going to be possible due to scheduling conflicts or travel distance, we may set up a phone consultation. If this is something you’re interested in, simply mention “consultation” during our initial contact.

As I close this point, I would like to send out a couple of Thank You’s:

  • First, HUGE thank you and bravo to Patty Dill for designing my logo! It looks fantastic – especially against the black back drop!
  • THANKS to Ryan Wingo for granting me permission to play his song “Wonders” on my website…such an awesome song!
  • To all my beautiful 2009 clients: I would NOT, I repeat NOT be launching this website and starting a new year of business without you. I’m thrilled to showcase your beautiful faces all over my website. THANK YOU for being simply wonderful.
  • And to my incredible husband, Wade: I LOVE YOU! Thank you for your support, patience, encouragement, website proofing, and unending love. You are my best friend.

NOW, spread the word, tell your friends, and find me on Facebook to become a fan of Emily Dobson Photography: another method of communication for updates, special offers, and current work.

What’s New in 2010?! December 20, 2009

As the holiday season approaches, I’d like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for following my blog over the past year. It is has been a true blessing to see the number of people who stop by and view my work. Blog readers: you help make my photography business successful!

With these Christmas wishes, I’d like to inform you of some exciting changes for Emily Dobson Photography that will be taking place as the 2010 year approaches. Recently, I have been reflecting on my business life and determining what has worked successfully and what could use a little tweeking! The major adjustments to be made are outlined in this post.

First, I will soon be taking some time off for the holidays and through the new year. I will be closed December 23 – January 5. While bookings will begin much sooner, sessions will start back up again mid to late February.

Probably the most exciting change is the launch of a brand new professional website! I am thrilled to finally have the opportunity to showcase several of my beautiful 2009 clients on an organized photo gallery website. Right now, I am refining all of the details with the goal of launching the site before December 31st. Please check my blog often for updates!

Over the past year, I have had the privilege of starting a brand new business and offering clients great start-up rates for custom photography. I am amazed at how God has blessed my business in these first several months, and grateful for the awesome clients I’ve had the pleasure of working with. As 2010 approaches, my session and product rates will be adjusted. However, anyone who wants to schedule a session for the 2010 year may do so by December 31st and still receive 2009 pricing. So think about those special events coming up whether you’re looking for senior pictures before graduation, a family Easter picture, or maybe a nice Mother’s Day gift, etc. I am currently accepting sessions all through the Spring. Please e-mail me at this brand new professional e-mail address: info@emilydobson.com. The first five people to book a session for 2010 will receive $20 off the session fee. In addition, I will give everyone who books a session scheduled in February a complimentary 8×10

With a baby on the way and an expectation that every client receives the best service possible, I will be limiting my workload to a maximum of two sessions per week. These sessions will be conducted mainly on Monday and Tuesday afternoons/evenings with the occasional Saturday available for booking. Saturdays will be rare between youth and church ministry activities. If you wish (or prefer) to book a Saturday, please contact me as in advance as possible. I recommend booking sessions at least four weeks in advance. I am confident I will book up rather quickly. My daily workload and hours vary widely. My weekdays are filled due to my permanent substitute position with the Macon R-1 School District. During the evenings, I spend most of my time answering e-mails and editing photos. If you prefer phone contact, please specify this during initial contact, and I will give you a call as soon as I possibly can.

I hope you have found this post to be helpful and informative. If you’re not interested in booking another session, I ask that you pass the word along to others. Don’t forget, the first five people to book a session will receive $20 off the session fee, and 2009 pricing will be in effect for all sessions booked prior to 2010. In addition, everyone who books a session scheduled in February 2010 receives a complimentary 8×10.

May your Christmas and New Year be filled with much joy and happiness, and lots of good food too! And because everyone likes to see pictures on a photo blog, here are some great shots of my senior session with Ethan Hess (such a kind guy!):

Merry Christmas!

2009 Availability – Macon, Missouri Professional Photography October 13, 2009

Is it wrong to listen to Christmas music before Halloween? I started by listening to our church’s Christmas cantata’s music for practice… but today, I’ve decided to go all out-I created a holiday station on Pandora. What can I say? I love Christmas music, and waiting until after Thanksgiving simply doesn’t give me enough time to enjoy it! So, I’m brekaing the rules.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I only have three dates left available for sessions in 2009. I will only make exceptions for expecting mothers who wish to have a newborn session. So, if you want one of the final three sessions for family, senior, holiday portraits, etc. contact me NOW before it’s too late!

If you’ve had a session with me earlier this year, and would like to re-order prints for the holiday season, please let me know. The last day to order pictures will be November 30th.

Holidays – Portrait Giveaway October 10, 2009

“Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” 1 Peter 4:9-10

The second greatest commandment in scripture is to “love your neighbor as yourself.” In the midst of all the evil in the world, there must be good taking place somewhere. Although there is “no one good, not even one,” I know God is allowing His goodness to shine through His children across the world. And I want to know about it!

You know someone-someone who has experienced a terrible tragedy, but still finds time to help others who recently experienced a loss. You know someone who is struggling to make ends meet meet in this dying economy, but is volunteering at a local homeless shelter every month. You know someone who is working two jobs just to support his/her family, but is still giving to his/her favorite local charity. You know someone who cannot afford custom photography, but would absolutely cherish the timeless images this season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spitit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who it is.

I want to give them the opportunity to experience complimentary custom photography, and it’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $20 gift credit card. So why not spread the love?

What the winner receives:

  • One hour on-location session
  • 25 custom cards (not necessarily holiday)
  • (2) 8×10
  • (4) 5×7
  • (10) 4×6
  • CD of all edited images

The Rules:

  1. You cannot nomiate yourself, and the person nomiated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments after purchasing two brand new vehicles does not qualify as sincere financial need.)
  2. The nominee must reside within 60 miles of Macon, MO. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.
  3. You must e-mail me the full story at: emilydobsonphotography@yahoo.com
  4. All entries must be submitted by December 5, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.
  5. The winner will be announced on December 12, 2009 — get nomiating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,

Randomness September 21, 2009

As I sit here on this Monday morning, I am amazed at how quickly the weekends pass! While I am okay with Monday approaching, my busy husband has been going non-stop since Friday afternoon. Between tailgating before the football game, an exciting trip to Six Flags, and an unusual extended youth night last night, I’m exhausted for him! Fortunately, my days are typically a bit more relaxed. For example, I was unable to go to Six Flags with the youth, so I stayed home, finished up a senior session, and read over half of New Moon. I stinkin’ love the Twilight series! This is my second time reading it and I am completely stoked about the upcoming release of the new movie on November 20th!!!!! So while Wade’s running around like a crazy person, I’m at home obsessing over the relationship of Bella and Edward. Ah the life…

While traveling down the road of professional photography, I am also substitute teaching whenever I get the opportunity. Why do I tell you this? I simply want you to be aware of the fact that some days I am away from my at-home office. There will be days I respond to your e-mails and facebook messages almost immediately while other days I will have to wait until I return home.

Please don’t forget about the 2009 Holiday Packages I’m offering! NOW is the time to book as October is pretty much full and I’m already filling in November. It’s a great opportunity to get your Christmas cards custom-made and printed early while also giving to a good cause. Be sure to check out that particular blog post for more information!

Also, I am thrilled to announce that couples responded quickly to my free session giveaways and all of the slots are now gone. However, this does not mean that I am unavailable schedule you a full engagement session. So please, contact me for more information regarding my engagement sessions at emilydobsonphotography@yahoo.com.

The new website is coming along nicely. I can’t wait to conduct all of these couples’ sessions and officially launch it! It’s going to be awesome!

Have a great week everyone and thanks for stopping by!
